Period Poverty Awareness Week Begins

Monday, May 22, 2023 - Sunday, May 28, 2023

5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Join the Junior League of Wilmington as we draw attention to the issue of period poverty in our community during Period Poverty Awareness Week (May 22-28). The League is hosting a free public event on Tuesday, May 23rd as a part of our Stand Up. Period. initiative at The Delaware Contemporary.

During this event, you will learn more about period poverty in Wilmington and the work that is being done to address it. There will also be a Menstrual Diversity Panel where panelists will discuss the diverse experiences of menstruators related to health, race, gender identity, culture and religion.  Click here if you plan to attend.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to view The Delaware Contemporary’s exhibition Nourish. This exhibition examines an aspect of “nourishment”, considering the connections between our basic human needs and the impact that nourishment can have from an individual perspective to that of an entire community. Light refreshments will be provided.
