Working in the Community
The Junior League of Wilmington is proud to be working with several local nonprofit organizations on the issue of bettering the lives of girls 12-18.
The Junior League of Wilmington is focused on improving the lives of girls age 12-18 in Greater Wilmington. The League will be making improvements to facilities at the Delaware Adolescent Program which affords pregnant teenagers a means by which to continue their education and receive pre-natal care; we will be conducting life skill workshops at Bayard House, a residential program serving homeless or transitional pregnant minors; and we are developing a mentoring program for granddaughters of the families served by the Wilmington Senior Center. We also assisted with the passage of Erin's Law in Delaware. In June 2016, The First State became the 28th state to pass Erin’s Law which requires that all public schools in each state implement a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse program (click here for details about this legislation).
We are an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
CoMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
The Junior League welcomes all women who value our mission. We are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations and communities.
